Getting here and getting about

By road
The house is about four hours south of Paris on the A20 autoroute. Take exit 55 at Souillac, and follow the signs to Sarlat. We will supply a detailed map with the route from Souillac marked to the front door.

By air
The nearest airport is at Brive-Valley of the Dordogne, about 40 mins drive to the north; it has services from London (City and Stansted), Paris (Orly) and Amsterdam. The closest major airports are Toulouse (two hours drive on A20) and Bordeaux (three hours drive following the Dordogne). Bergerac (one and a half hours drive), Limoges (two hours drive) and Rodez (two hours) airports all have services from Paris and London.

By train
Trains on the Paris to Toulouse line leave from Paris Austerlitz and stop at Brive, Souillac and Gourdon, although recent changes are phasing out stops by express trains at the last two, there are still several services a day. The house is 12 kms from Gourdon and 12 kms from Souillac.

Local car hire
You will need your own transport. Rental cars are available from both the airport and railway station in Brive, and at Bergerac and Rodez airports – but book well ahead if you need an automatic. Otherwise, all the major companies, with a greater range of choice, are at both Toulouse railway and airport and the same in Bordeaux.

Car leasing can be a great option if you are staying for more than 18 days and are not a citizen of the EU. This can be booked from an Australian-based office, and can prove a lot more affordable than short term car hire.
